Asanas to relieve menstrual pain

Sometimes the pain and discomfort caused by menstrual cramps can become unbearable! The reason these cramps occur is due to the contraction of the uterus to shed the endometrium.

Yoga is one of the most safest and gentle ways to ease these cramps .

Here are a few  Asanas/ Poses that can help you soothe these cramps and give you relief

  1. Child’s Pose (Balasana):  Kneel on the floor, sit back on your heels, and stretch your arms forward with your forehead on the ground.

2. Supine Twist : Lie on your back, bend your knees, and gently drop them to one side while keeping your shoulders on the ground.

3. Cat-Cow Stretch: Get on your hands and knees, arch your back (cat pose), and then arch it upward (cow pose) in a flowing motion.

4. Supta Baddha Konasana:  Lie on your back with the soles of your feet together and knees apart

5. Butterfly Pose (Baddha Konasana): Sit with your feet together and gently press your knees toward the floor.

These poses ease your pain and relieve discomfort. However, it’s choosing the asanas that ease your body and neglecting those that give you discomfort.
